UPCOMING EVENTS
We are excited to announce this year's CGS Manitoba Summer Social! Join us for an evening of networking with our local geotechnical community and celebrate Dr. Rob Kenyon upon his retirement after 35+ years of outstanding contributions.
Many of you will have had the opportunity to personally connect with Dr. Kenyon but for those who may not be aware Dr. Kenyon is currently Specialist Geotechnical Advisor to KGS Group and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Manitoba. Dr. Kenyon was also a co-editor for the latest edition of the Canadian Foundation Engineering Manual (Edition 5) alongside Ken Skaftfeld and served as the President of CGS National from 2023-2024.
As part of the evening, Rob will be delivering a special technical presentation:
"Three Decades of Emergency Flood Engineering" from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM (Includes Q&A).
Rob will share hard-earned lessons from responding to major crises like the 1997 Red River Flood, the 2011 Assiniboine Basin flooding, and more. He’ll cover practical insights into 4 m-high sandbag dike design, foundation blowouts, failing prisms, infrastructure crossings, and mobilizing volunteer armies.
